Coverage Day Four (Olympic Day 8) | |
Well, I'm back with more hockey... I saw Laura in 'frisco at an opening at Southern Exposure which featured a great installation by our friend Kelsey, and she wasn't going to get home until sometime tomorrow (sat) afternoon, so I said I would do another hockey report. Team USA will be playing Belarus... The game is about to start, and hopefully I won't sleep through the first half of the game, but I might if I get too close to the couch... Most of the pregame commentary is related to the loss yesterday to Sweden... I guess they have decided more hustle in the shift changes will help out... By the way, Belarus lost last night to Canada... Here is some interesting stats... The USA team is all NHL, and Belarus has two NHL people... I didn't get to watch the primetime coverage because of my trip, but I'm hoping that my newspaper will get here before the end of the game... Usually it gets here around 2:30 am... I can give some more info then... Ok, well, I kind of fell asleep... I was dealing with cat issues like feeding, litterbox, string game, and then I sat down on the couch with Dr. Heino, and watched the first period and a half... Then I fell asleep and didn't wake up until half way through Maury Povich. Here is a summary of the first half... Belarus had trouble making line changes and got two penalties for having too many people on the ice... A couple of regular penalties lead to a couple of 5 on 3 USA advantages... They scored both times... Belarus scored a even handed goal... Team USA then capitalized on another power play... to the score at that point was 3 to 1... Then I don't know what happened... This morning I went to Yahoo's Olympic site nagano.yahoo.com/wg98/ for more info... Warning! This site contains spoilers for the Men's Figure Skating, so don't go there if you don't want to know... On the positive side, this is a nice quick site to check on the Olympics... No applets, few graphics... Anyway, the hockey final was 5-2... Laura is going to be back today...
